PLATTEVILLE – On April 11, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville paintball club went to Lakeland, Fla., to participate in a national tournament attended by 48 teams. The UWP team played 19 games, winning all but three, which allowed them to take second place.
Phil Paque, president of the UWP paintball club, said, “We were really proud to take second place at the tournament, and one team we beat actually had two pro players on it.” The club also won first place overall in the entire college paintball Class AA series.
Next year the Platteville Paintball Club will have enough players to expand into two teams. They plan to practice over the summer and begin looking for new players when school starts in the fall. “We have people with skill levels all over, and are always looking for new people to join,” Paque commented. If anyone is interested in joining UWP’s paintball club they can contact Paque at paquep@uwplatt.edu.
